In a touching and unique moment, two sisters-in-law gave birth side by side at Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, creating an unforgettable family memory.

When Noa Ben David, 26, from Zikhron Ya’akov, arrived at Rambam, she was overwhelmed with excitement. Despite this being her third birth, it was exceptionally special as her sister-in-law, Esther Danino, 23, from Haifa, was also in labor just a few rooms away, giving birth to her first daughter and Noa’s first niece.

“This is the most special thing that has ever happened to me,” shares Noa. “Throughout my labor, I kept thinking about my sister and how we were experiencing this moment together.”

Noa, who has epilepsy, was closely monitored throughout her high-risk pregnancy by Dr. Yaniv Zipori, an attending physician in the Division of Obstetrics B, and Dr. Raz Winer, an attending physician in the Department of Neurology. “Thanks to midwife Gomer Ben Moshe, I had an incredible and perfect experience,” she recalls with deep gratitude.

Initially uncertain about giving birth at Rambam, Esther decided to stay after seeing the exceptional, individualized care Noa received. She was also highly impressed by the facilities in the newly renovated Doron Feingold Delivery Rooms Unit. “I felt like everything was happening at my own pace, with everyone listening to me and adapting to my needs. It was an intimate and amazing experience. It was my first birth, and there is a great feeling of security because we are in good hands. The staff is simply amazing,” she adds. Esther gave birth four hours before Noa, with the support of her husband Yehuda.

Lying side by side in the maternity ward, the sisters-in-law continue to share their unique family experience. “We went through the whole pregnancy together, so we decided to stay together for the birth too,” Noa laughs. “They’re cousins, but they’ll grow up like twins. Could anything be more special? It’s amazing!”
