An eight-person delegation from Rambam Healthcare Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, was the only representative of Israel at the 2024 European Healthcare Summit held in Rotterdam, Holland. Welcomed and supported by their peers, Rambam physician-scientists presented the medical technology and innovation that characterizes Israel worldwide as the Startup Nation.

The Clinical Research Institute at Rambam (CRIR) is a leading force in innovative translation medicine. As such, it was chosen by Health IL (a national body that promotes health and medicine in Israel) to represent Israel at the 2024 European Healthcare Summit. Since its establishment in 2008, CRIR clinicians and scientists have developed groundbreaking bench-to-bedside solutions in several medical fields. Their solutions have yielded numerous patents, papers published in leading journals, and collaborative projects and partnerships with academia and industry. The CRIR has also established the only online resource in Israel where scientists can connect with researchers, healthcare professionals, and the wider local scientific community.
Dr. Shlomit Yehudai-Reshef, director of Rambam’s Clinical Research Institute, stressed that even in the shadow of the war and after the Iranian attack, it was important for Rambam to represent Israel in the field that characterizes it – medical technology and innovation. She shared that the Rambam delegation highlighted Israel’s position as an international center for innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, and strengthened relationships with researchers, scientists, and investors.
The April summit was attended by members of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the European Commission, European Ministries of Health, digital healthcare companies, leading pharma manufacturers, and acclaimed universities and business schools. More than 100 delegates discussed solutions to current healthcare challenges, shared their perspectives, made recommendations, and presented ways to manage change.
Digital health is influencing the future of medicine, and the topic was widely addressed. Innovative solutions for managing chronic illness were presented using the latest technologies, such as augmented reality, wearable devices for collecting clinical data, and AI for diagnosis.
“Despite the current situation, it is heartwarming to see the significant support, encouragement, and appreciation from conference participants, proving that Israel holds an important position in the medical research ecosystem,” concludes Dr. Yehudai-Reshef.
